This is a picture of me and my dear buddy Max. He is a 10 year old Golden Retriever. He is my constant companion, especially when I am painting. In this photo I am adding detail to a painting of Max while he is asleep at my front door. I am excited to finish this painting and share it with all of you.
This is a burl that my husband cut at an angle so that I could create a free-standing piece of art. I am fortunate to have my grandfather's woodburning tool. I have created family signs, plaques and free-standing scenes of wildlife and landscapes.
I like to use naturally occuring knots and grains in the wood to represent elements of my scenes, such as this particular knot which I felt looked like a sun or moon above this mule deer buck.
