Pynelogs 100th Anniversary Celebration
My grandmother and I pose in front of the 12" x 12" painting that I donated for the celebration. The painting depicted my Grandmother, Jean Cartwright (Kennedy) when she was a nurse at the Lady Elizabeth Memorial Hospital ( present day Pynelogs). 100 tickets were sold at $100.00 each and guaranteed that the ticket holder would leave with one of the canvases at the end of the night. My Grandmother was one of those ticket holders.

My father, Colin Cartwright and my Aunt Carol (Berube) were born at the Lady Elizabeth Memorial Hospital.

The tickets were drawn randomly and a good friend of my Grandmothers, Helen Kipp, was drawn first. She was able to choose first from the gallery of 100 pieces of art. Helen rushed over to the painting of my Grandmother and staked her claim. She then turned to us and said that she was giving the painting to my Grandmother. She said that she thought it should stay in the family. What a beautiful and generous thing to do!
