Christmas Creations
2014

Tiles painted in alcohol inks and framed in old barn board.

I used masking fluid to leave the letters a brilliant white. Alcohol ink dries very fast and is tricky to paint with.

Challenging but fun!
The colours are vivid and bright.

 Playing With Alcohol Inks

"Family Tree"
Alcohol Ink on 6" x 6" Ceramic Tile

I have noticed a lot of beautiful art being created with alcohol inks.
The effects of alcohol inks on shiny surfaces gives the impression
of stained glass. The ink dries incredibly fast, is bright and vibrant,
and is very smelly! (Use well ventilated area). It presents many challenges
because it is fast drying but also because it is a thin liquid ink. The
tendency is to run, spread across the surface. This makes the ink
rather difficult to paint with in a conventional manner.
I found the inks a lot of fun to work with and enjoyed the bright
imagery that I was able to create with them.
