Adrift In The Shallows

12" x 18" Acrylic on Hardboard

I was inspired to do this painting after I had looked through
some books of Raymond Harris Ching. He has some
amazing paintings of birds with great attention to detail. It is
his skill at painting water and reflections that I most admire.

Duck, duck, goose!
"Forget about getting all my ducks in a row,
I'd settle for getting them all in the same pond!"

I am currently painting this mallard hen that I
photographed at a park in Kamploops. I was recently
admiring the work of Raymond Harris Ching who is a
wonderful realist and paints beautiful water and bird
scenes. After looking at some of his books I was
inspired to begin this piece.     Cheers!

"Ain't no cure for the summer time blues"

Happy New Years! Can we get the groundhog out and get on with
the business of spring now please?

This is a photo of my dog Max retrieving a stick this past summer.
I like the contrast of his golden fur against the blue/green colours
in the water. My family spends a lot of time along the Kootenay River
with our dog each summer. I figure if I can't be on a warm beach
right now, I will at least paint a scene from one. Cheers!
